James McCaughan | J.D.

James is Yale’s Regional Director for the Midwest, where he advises owners and operators of manufactured housing communities and RV resorts on the sale and purchase of properties. His favorite part of the job is helping clients track down the hard-to-find buyers for niche deals, such as facilitating the sale of a 65% vacant community located in perhaps the nation’s most historically depressed and challenging market. James received his B.A.

in Economics and History from the University of Notre Dame and his J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law, where he graduated with honors. After law school, James worked for a judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit for two years, then practiced law for four years at a boutique commercial litigation firm, advocating on behalf of clients in real estate, financial services, insurance, and bankruptcy disputes in state and federal court.

He applies the skills, knowledge, and experience gained from his years of actively practicing law to advocate on behalf of sellers of manufactured housing communities and RV resorts, ensuring that money is not left on the table and that buyers are kept honest. Just before joining Yale, James moved back to his hometown to start a family, just five minutes from the house he grew up in, and he serves his parish as a lector on Sundays. James and his wife, Francine, own a Pilates studio, and together they spend as much time as possible enjoying the beautiful outdoors surrounding their home.
